“Metway is my first choice when choosing studios because the live room and console sound wonderful. The day-lit control room and Dynaudio M4’s make Metway possibly the best monitoring spaces I’ve been in.”

Tobias May

I have been working out of Metway since 2000 after graduating from Brighton University with a degree in Music. During the last two decades, I have had the pleasure of working with bands and artists across all manner of genres. You can read my full discography at www.tmses.net.

I was hired by Levellers as a tea boy/tape-op and learned the sound engineering trade from the ground up, cutting my teeth on analogue tape recorders and large-format consoles. Alongside my studio work, I am also a busy session drummer and university lecturer.

I love regularly working out of Metway because the control room is large with natural daylight and the monitoring environment is hugely reliable. The gear suits the needs of today’s artists as well as my own and there is a wide range of microphones and outboard to choose from.

With a career spanning some 20 years Jake has worked with hundreds of bands across many genres including Royal Blood, Nick Cave, Roger Daltrey, Wilco Johnson, The Levellers, Orbital and Snow Patrol.

As well as my studio engineering and production work, I have a successful career composing music for broadcast.

Metway has a great atmosphere and all the space and equipment to get really good results. The spacious control room is very comfortable and you can listen safe in the knowledge that what is coming out of the speakers is completely true to what is going on in the mix.

“I started at the Metway in 1997 and I still love it. It has a great vibe and a great sound.”
